Itineraries

If you have only ONE DAY in Santa Fe ...

Day 1: Start at the Plaza, the historical center of Santa Fe, by taking a tour the Palace of the Governors and the Loretto Chapel.  Afterward, stroll up the Santa Fe River to Canyon Road, the artistic heart of the city. Take a short drive toward the foothills to Museum Hill where you visit the museum of International Folk Art, Spanish Colonial Art and other collections. With the day behind you, relax on the Plaza, explore the downtown shopping, then settle in for fantastic dinner at the many highly rated restaurants.

If you have TWO DAYS in Santa Fe ...

Day 2: Take a Day Trip – North, West, South or East!  See our recommendations under Day Trips.  Or if you’re up for adventure or activities, head out for a half-day, or full-day of fly fishing, horseback riding, a once-in-a-life time flight tailored to your liking in a genuine WWII military fighter plane, hiking, a white water river rafting experience, a guided tour of nearby pueblos, golf at one of the many nearby courses, a hot-air balloon ride, go nordic or downhill skiing, if it’s the season, or rent a road cycle or mountain bike to explore the city and surrounding trails, foothills and mountains.

Keep eating!

If you have THREE DAYS in Santa Fe ...

Day 3: Start your day by heading to the Railyard District (3/4 mile southwest of the Plaza) to explore the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market and view contemporary art at the world class art space Site Santa Fe.  The Railyard, and the neighboring Guadalupe District, offer varied shopping, art and restaurants opportunities. Treat yourself to a spa visit, or experience numerous options for alternative healing modalities– another aspect of Santa Fe which attracts people from around the world.  In the evening, check out the many performing arts offerings found throughout the city year round – many of which feature world-class artists.  What about a fun cooking class, guided photography tour or winery and wine tasting room visit?

If you have FIVE DAYS in Santa Fe ... you have chosen well.

Day 4: Either take another day trip, or get outside for more fun and adventure. And keep trying new and interesting restaurants both in the downtown area and along the Cerrillos Road corridor (the main road running through Santa Fe)

Day 5: Wrap up your stay in Santa Fe with a relaxing day taking in our beautiful air and sunshine while sampling gourmet coffees and teas at coffee shops and cafes found through-out the city, touring (and tasting!) the delectable and inspired house-made creations at some of the finest chocolatiers in the country, browsing our many quality consignment clothing and antique shops, looking for one-of-kind creations at our seasonal outdoor aritists markets, enjoying a yoga or fitness class, taking a short drive toward the Santa Fe Ski Basin for a beautiful hike in summer or winter, and enjoying one last traditional authentic New Mexican meal, or perhaps tracking down a food truck for a fun and tasty bite.
